It is a privilege and a joy to introduce children and adults to the language of music. As I teach you or your child, my goal is to guide each student toward developing his or her own unique and creative style of musical expression. I emphasize the fulfilling aspect of expressing one’s emotions through music and having fun!
I offer piano lessons as well as guitar and vocal lessons at my studio in Arcata, CA.
Vocal lessons: We will use vocal books in addition to vocal exercises passed down by my wonderful teacher, Shiela Marks to get you started. We also work on learning your favorite songs by ear.
Piano lessons: In the individual piano lessons for young children, I include fun musical games and activities along with time at the piano. I share many creative and interesting practice ideas with parents so that they can assist their children at home.
Whether you’re a beginning or advanced pianist, a child or adult, I will help you master pieces in a variety of styles by empowering you with a knowledge of music theory, piano technique, finger exercises, improvisation, composition and sight-reading.
Group piano lessons are offered once per month at my studio in Arcata, CA, where we have a fantastic time playing music theory games and sharing our repertoire!
Guitar lessons: At my home studio in Arcata, CA, I guide students to read individual notes as well as chords with the use of selected books. We also work on learning their favorite songs by ear!
An abundance of studies have shown that learning music enhances brain power, improves memory, and boosts academic or work performance. It is an enriching and gratifying means of creative and emotional expression, nurturing both the heart and soul. Playing music is not only meaningful for one’s personal development but it is also a gift one offers for others to enjoy.
